AURA Apothecary

A Starter Guide for Crafting Beauty, Flavor, and Calm from Nature’s Pantry
There’s something quietly powerful about having what you need within reach, whether it’s a slice of dried lemon to crown your afternoon spritz or a sprig of lavender to soothe the evening air. An at-home apothecary isn’t about having dozens of bottles or an overflowing shelf. It begins with intention. With one jar. One harvest. One ritual.
This guide is for those who feel drawn to surround themselves with gentle remedies and fragrant touches, who want to deepen their relationship with the ingredients they use and the energy they live in. Whether you live in a sunlit home or a small city flat, there is always room to begin.

DRYING CITRUS: AURA LEMONS + LIMES
The scent of sun-cured lemon slices drifting through the kitchen is a kind of memory in the making. To start, slice organic lemons and limes into even rounds. Lay them on parchment and dry them in the oven at the lowest possible setting, usually around 170°F (75°C) for 3 to 4 hours, flipping halfway through. You’ll know they’re ready when the edges curl slightly and the centers no longer feel sticky.
Store your citrus slices in a glass jar with a simple handwritten label. These are beautiful in sparkling water, teas, or as a finishing touch on mocktails and desserts.
HERBS TO START WITH
Start with herbs you already use or love the scent of. Some favorites for beginners:
Rosemary: Ideal for cooking, but also steeped as a cleansing rinse or tucked into linen drawers.
Lavender: Calming, fragrant, and beautiful when dried in bundles or infused into honey or sugar.
Mint: Easy to grow in pots. Wonderful fresh or dried in teas and simple syrups.
Sage: Cleansing, grounding, and versatile. Use in broths or dry small bundles for atmosphere.
Thyme: Hardy, aromatic, and perfect in both savory and sweet infusions.
Harvest in the morning after the dew has dried, and hang in small bundles or lay flat on a mesh screen in a cool, dry place. Once fully dried, store in small glass jars or reusable pouches, and keep them somewhere visible, let beauty be part of the function.
TINCTURES + INFUSIONS: THE GENTLE ALCHEMY
To begin a simple herbal tincture, fill a clean jar with dried herbs and cover with high-proof alcohol (like vodka) until fully submerged. Seal tightly and store in a dark place, shaking gently once a day. After four to six weeks, strain and bottle in dark glass dropper bottles. Label with the herb name and date. These tinctures can be added to teas, taken under the tongue, or used in rituals of care.
For non-alcoholic infusions, try steeping dried herbs in warm oil (like jojoba or olive oil) over low heat for a few hours, perfect for massage oils or bath blends.

MAKING IT YOUR OWN
There’s no one way to build an AURA Apothecary. It could begin with a single sprig of rosemary on your windowsill or a tray of orange slices slowly caramelizing in the oven. The key is presence. Choosing beauty. Cultivating peace. Let your jars and bundles reflect your rhythm.
Over time, you may collect stories in your apothecary, lavender from a trip to Provence, thyme grown from seed, a mint cutting gifted by a friend. Each becomes part of your inner landscape, quietly supporting your rituals, your health, your home.
You are the steward of your space. The scent keeper. The one who chooses what stays.
Welcome to the AURA way.
